Wilfred Cisse is a London based musician born in Ivory Coast, he migrated to London in 2004 because of a civil war.
Drifting around London throughout his childhood, Wilfred eventually moved to Essex where he discovered Alexander McQueen who influenced his early love for fashion and eventual career choice of working as tailor on Savile Row, but unlike tailoring he found music a more freeing form of expression, with no rules or gatekeepers to decide who is worthy, thus leaving the Row. Wilfred defines himself as a ‘waiter’, making music to serve and uplift. The journey started when Wilfred’s sister showed an interest in making music, recognising the importance of nurturing black talent early, he decided to dedicate himself to helping his sister write and produce indie pop music in his tiny box room, the music wasn’t perfect but it was fun and raw and that built the dedicated fan base which set everything off. Now stepping out the shadows Wilfred’s unique look of suit and afro is already being recognised by the likes of Ralph Lauren in their new London boys campaign.
Bouncing between multiple genres like sob rock to bedroom pop to UK rap, you never know what you’ll get when listening to Wilfred Cisse, but one thing you can be sure of is that you’re going to leave with at least 1 you can’t get out of your head.
