SCOUTING AT PREMIER

BLOG - SCOUTING

wHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE 'SCOUTED'?

Scouting plays a huge and important role in the modelling industry. Everything starts with the question ‘have you ever modelled/considered modelling before?’ You can be scouted anywhere, from a shopping centre, to an airport or even just in the street. Model scouts will look for talent everywhere, including when they’re online and scrolling through social media!

How we scout at Premier

At Premier, we are always on the lookout for new talent! We have 4 in-house scouts whose daily job involves searching for potential models both in-person and online. Although predominantly London-based, our scouts regularly travel nationally and internationally to find fresh faces, as we represent models globally! We also have a very accessible and straightforward online application process, which is available on our website. Applying online is the quickest and easiest way to be scouted as our applications are always being reviewed! At Premier, we recommend utilising these online tools and submitting an application if you want to become a model, don’t feel like you have to wait around for someone to scout you! You can read more about the online process under our scouting section!

Something worth remembering is that you don’t need any prior modelling experience to be scouted. If you are approached by a Premier scout, they will always provide you with an official Premier scouting card or business card, and will outline the prospects of becoming a model. They will for your name, age and contact details but will never ask for any compromising information. If you are a minor, our scouts will always ask for parental consent and your parents’ contact details in order to contact them directly.

AFTER BEING SCOUTED

Once you’ve been scouted, you may be invited to visit the agency and meet the new faces team, where they will explain more about the process of becoming a model and how getting signed could work! You may also be asked to take some polaroid images (simple, natural portraits usually outside) with one of our friendly and welcoming in-house photographers. We understand that the scouting process can be overwhelming, but our agents will be here to support, nurture and develop your journey every step of the way. Once you are offered a contract and everything is agreed and signed off, your modelling journey starts. The development process will be tailored specifically to you, depending on your age, school commitments and experience. It’s important to Premier that you still prioritise education, schooling and work, so your agent will work hard to build a schedule that fits around you!

It’s important to remember that every modelling journey is unique and different but equally important and exciting.

Finding the right agency for you

The modelling industry is a vastly diverse space with agencies all over the world scouting for different and unique looks! Although this may sometimes feel hard to navigate, it’s best to remember that the industry is not one size fits all; every modelling agency works in a unique way, so it may take a little time to find the right one for you! We recommend doing your research on different types of modelling for example commercial, editorial or runway as well as all the different agencies around you to find where you can see yourself fitting best! The Premier team understands the importance of finding the perfect agency to kick start your career, so if you visit the agency after being scouted or even just for a walk-in and it doesn’t feel like the right fit for you, we will always recommend other agencies that might be better suited!

Being scouted can be exciting, but it’s important that you are staying aware and keeping safe during the process. Unfortunately, sometimes scammers will pretend to scout you as a way to access your contact details or making money, so we highly recommend you read our scouting safety article and remember that Premier scouts will never ask you for payment during the scouting process!
